Ever cool guy Yoshi Hontani released more information about the new Leben CS-1000P today. Yoshi San’s message said, “A first production lot of 5 units have already been sold out and the next production lot of 10 units is scheduled at early June. (6 units have already been sold out as of today).” The new Leben CS-1000P in generating a lot of interest and selling out before it has even been seen in the wild. Enjoy!

This is off topic Jeff, but I was wondering on getting your thoughts/opinion on a preamp. I have the Sophia 300B mono’s also and would like to get a nice tube pre, but I’m leary of to much of a “good thing”, meaning overly warm. I initially was thinking of the Wyred4sound with the passive/active gain, and then I remembered the Audio Space 2S with the 300B or the 2A3 tube to tailor the sound. I have some reworked LaScala’s with outboard crossovers and thought the Wyred would be good for less background noise. I can’t find to much on the 2S, other than there web site and the 6Moons review. Do you have any experience with it or friends? I hear the Coincident is nice also, but would like to keep it around $3500 or under. I don’t know if you get bombarded with these questions all the time, but thanks if you do answer! Kind regards, Mark.
Hi Mark,
I’m not familiar with the preamps you mention – sorry about that. The Leben is quite neutral, and in fact more people have asked about warming it up rather than the other way around. I really like the RS-100 & RS-100U. The RS-28CX is even more neutral.
I hope that is of some help.
Kind regards,
Jeff
Hi Jeff, I enjoy your website. what phono amps to you like that would mate well with a Leben 300xs other than the current Leben phono amp. Thanks Jed
Hi Jed,
Thanks for the kind words – appreciated. I think the Leben CS300XS is best served by the Leben RS-30EQ. The NVO SPA-II is awesome, and a good choice, as would be the Manley Steelhead.
I hope that helps.
Best,
Jeff
Hello Jeff,
wed discovered your site a couple of months ago and we are really impressed with the quality and the way you communicate hi end. it is very helpful even to newcomers like me and my wife. well done!!!
Our system is comprised of plinius sa-ref power amp, plinius tauter pre amp, dynaudio confidence signature C4 speakers. We have listened to the leben amplifiers in the Hi End show and we were amazed. please advise if the Lebens would be a good match with our loudspeakers.
thanks in advance,
Christos
Hi Christos,
Thanks for your kind words – appreciated!
I’m afraid I haven’t heard your particular loudspeakers, so I’m not able to help there.
Can anyone else provide some helpful information for Christos?
Kind regards,
Jeff
Hi Jeff,
I replaced my Leben CS660p by a Leben 1000p, I am very well impressed by the change. They drive much more easily my Tannoys (Kensington SE) and blend very, very well with my EAR 912 preamp and Sondek LP12 table.
After trying several tubes on it, the russians 6L6s are finally retained, the original KT120 being a real overkill for the Kens…
I am really looking forward to read your review on the 1000p, an amplifier that is capable to master an audio installation with such easiness, while keeping the correct musical flow and timbral colors is a real treasure nowadays !
best regards,
